Aims of the session:
- Reflect on a transformative LIS experience
- Discuss the capstone project and what accountability can look like
Option 1
A Transformative LIS experience (30 mins):
Invite the group to reflect on their LIS experience so far.
Transformative LIS Experience: each person will have a timed-2 minutes to share an LIS experience that has impacted them in a profound way and shaped what they want to do post-graduation.
Examples:
- a specific term-based project
- a specific extra-curricular project
- an internship experience
- a specific skill
Option 2
Expectation setting (30 mins):
Invite the group to reflect on their experience of coaching so far and think about what they want to get out of this space for the coming year
Prompts:
- What role do you want coaching to play for you this year?
- What can we expect from one another?
Before moving onto the next activity, have a debrief about what emerged during the discussion and consider some actionable takeaways.
Capstone and accountability for the year ahead (30 mins):
Invite the group to have a discussion about their capstone project ideas and what impact they want their project to have
Capstone questions (15 mins):
- What is your capstone project idea and how have you found reaching out to external academics/people in industry?
- What has worked well and what tips would you offer to anyone struggling?
- How are you thinking about bringing together different kinds of knowledge for your capstone?
Additional prompts: — If you had no constraints, how would you communicate your final capstone project? — Who are the likely stakeholders? — What would a successful project look like? — What impact do you want your project to have?
Accountability questions (15 mins):
- How often do you want to meet (without the coach)?
- What kinds of milestones will help you stay on track?
- How can you keep each other accountable each week?
